ルーティン（routin）とは個人的、習慣的で、仕事の前、仕事中に行う自分なりの段取り、流れのポイントとなる具体的なアクション、のようなもの。癖にも近いが、無意識な癖とは違い、意識的なものだ。2015年ラグビー・W杯で五郎丸選手のキック前の独特の指の動きが、「ルーティン」という言葉とともに日本の小学生の間でも流行した。

気がつくと、私にもたくさんのルーティンがある。その一つは、目覚めてもすぐには起きないこと。何もしない。目覚めの最初に頭に浮かぶ言葉、イメージを最も大事にする。メモを取ったりはしない。空想が広がり、1時間以上そうやっている時もある。

夢を見ることは大切だ。「夢を叶える」とかいう、その夢ではない。毎日見る夢、努力などとは無縁の「ただの夢」。脳の中では、覚醒時と睡眠時では働き方が違うらしい。何日もかかって苦しんでも結論の出ないことが、目覚めの瞬間にすんなり答えが出ていることがある。何度もそういう経験をして、以前はメモ帳を枕元に置いていたが、メモ帳を手に持ったり、ペンを持ったりしているうちにフッと消えてしまうこともままあり、じっとしていることに落ち着いた。

何にも浮かばない時は仕方がない。ヒョイと忘れてしまうこともしょっちゅう。そんな時はもう起きるしかない。血圧を測り、腹筋と脚の筋トレを60〜100回くらいずつやると程々に汗をかく。お腹も空いてくる。ぬるくなったお茶を一杯飲んでから朝食。50g（茶碗に半分くらい）程度のご飯に納豆1パック、うずらの卵2個。ヨーグルトを300g。朝食の間に頭の中で段取り。仕事を始めながらコーヒー一杯。一年中朝はこの繰り返し。こちらは立派な？ルーティンと言えるだろう。

何もしない、というのは本来ルーティンと言うべきではないかもしれないが、元々はメモを取るというアクションが発展？したものだから、この際は赦してもらいたい。ルーティンはいろいろな状況に応じて変わるものだ。目覚めたら読書、それから小一時間勉強して…というルーティンが私にあれば今頃はきっと…。「良い習慣を身につけましょう」と子どもの頃に教わったが、私には身につかなかった。
