A song for hundreds of people

10almost a year ago、started writing haiku。I wish I had something that I could call a hobby.、Because I thought。It doesn't cost much money、All I have to think about is 17 characters.、I wonder if even I, who is quite slow, can do it.、(Like many people) It was because of impure feelings.。In order not to give up too soon、I was asked to teach at a (too small) haiku meeting.。There is a haiku meeting once a month.、It was the 100th anniversary at the end of last year.。At first, I wanted to try various things.、smug、Create many phrases that are quite biased、I incurred the displeasure of the members.。

Lately, I've been feeling like I can't say much with 17 letters.。Just in case、Since it is a traditional haiku, seasonal words are included.。With this, I spend about five characters.。There are only 12 characters left、It takes about five characters to write the name of a specific thing or some description.。Convey your mood and intention with the remaining seven letters、I started to feel like there was no way I could do it.。Certainly a masterpiece、There are some ``famous haiku'' that have such depth and breadth that it is hard to believe that they are made up of only 17 characters.。But、for ordinary people like me、No matter what I do, I imitate others、It cannot help but become a simile.。

So if it's a tanka with 31 characters,、There is no need for seasonal words.、I thought I could use the whole thing for myself.、I started reading a book of modern tanka poems.。It's definitely much more interesting then。However, I have come to understand that it is more than four times as difficult to create a character with 7 characters and 31 characters.。This is a huge burden both time-wise and mentally.。On the other hand, haiku is still continuing.。This is why、Sometimes I compose tanka、If only the first 17 characters are considered a haiku,、I thought that I could kill two birds with one stone.。

I didn't think it would go that well、It was as expected。Important points even in tanka、What I want to say is the second half.。But、Then I noticed one thing。短歌の前半、つまり大したことではないところ、そこは風景や情景という、いわば「背景」を説明する部分。まさに「花鳥風月」の部分じゃないか。I see、俳句というのは大事なところをすっぱり切り捨て、七文字じゃとても言い切れないからと、読む人に思いっきり丸投げしてしまうブラック商法なのだなと。－ここでやっと「百人一首」に繋がるのだが、王朝時代のゆったりした叙景の「コツ」を覚えるには、万葉から新古今集あたりまでの名作がたった百首に絞り込まれた「百人一首」が一番手っ取り早いのではないかという、およそ趣味的ではない発想で、読んでみることにしたのだった。However、どうもこれがいろいろと後を引きそうな気配濃厚で、ある意味困っているところです。

Such situations etc.、No one is supposed to know except me and a few people.、People who see this picture for the first time may think, ``What?、You might think, "It's just a picture of the Apple logo."。So、For now, I'll write it here、There should be a few more people in the know.。Although it's a little different、There are several similar experiences that are taken out of context.。One of them is、1990started in November、Kyushu、Eruption of “Unzen/Fugendake”。

Fugendake in Unzen began.。The eruption was broadcast on all TV stations.、Continuously flowing from morning till night。And that “ultimate” large pyroclastic flow。My image of "bright red clouds cheerfully running down the ridge" is、Regardless of the time of production and the chronology of the pyroclastic flow.、Converged by the “pyroclastic flow” of the media。After that, every time I present a work、It was decided that the motif was a pyroclastic flow.。個人とマス・メディアとの圧倒的な量の差を、直接体感した最初の経験だった。テレビの力は大きい。Or rather、人々はまるでテレビが事（真）実であり、テレビそのものを信仰しているかのように見えた。

One more thing。2008年私は「天から豪瀑する、傲慢な人間を戒める、都市への懲罰的な大洪水」（聖書にある、ノアの方舟が頭にあった）を、1000号を超える大作「叫ぶ男」（210 x 540 cm）で発表した。その続編の「竜巻の男」、続いて「人間をやめた」新しい生き物を「新生」として、同サイズの大作をシリーズ化する構想を始めていた。そして2011年1月、再び「大洪水」を描き始めた。描き込まれる人間の数も今回は300人を越えていた。２ヶ月後の「2011、3、11」 東日本大震災。岩壁を越え、海が滝のように市内に向かって溢れかえる津波のTV映像を見ながら、私は自分の絵が現実になったような錯覚を感じていた。その年「大洪水」を描き続けることはできなかった。

欠点

「欠点」って、なんだか恥ずかしく、隠したいことのように思えます。But、どうやらそうでもないようなんです。

皆さんはテストで「満点」をとったことがありますね。ニコニコしてうちに帰り、親に見せましたね。親もニコニコして、おかずがちょっと増えたりして。それできっと「次も満点をとりたい」と思いましたね。

However、決して勉強をサボったわけでもないのに、次からはなかなか満点は取れなかったでしょう。他の子だって満点をとって、親のニコニコ顔を見たいし、おかずも増やして欲しいと思っているからです。先生だって、毎回毎回全員が満点をとったら不安です。「私のテストの作り方がおかしいのかしら」。悩みすぎて自殺してしまわないためには、テストを難しくするしかありません（テストをしない方法もあるのですが、この国ではテストでできるだけ子どもを苦しませ、こんな苦しい思いをするくらいならもう勉強なんかやめて働くのがいいさと思わせて、労働人口を確保しようという政策で学校を運営させているのです。先生も公務員である以上、逆らえば、国に人質にとられている自分の子どもと一緒にホルムズ海峡へ送られてしまう危険性があるのです）（冗談ですよ、Just in case)。

そんなことは子どもでも知っていますから、そこは阿吽（あうん）の呼吸で、適当に平均点以下だったり、あと少しで満点だったり、操作をしましたね。先生も自殺せずに済み、「惜しかったね」「今度は頑張ったね」と気楽に褒めてくれたと思います。子どもが、本当は親や先生より賢いことは、子どもなら誰だって知っています。

「欠点」というのは、そんなふうに周りを平和にするものなんです。自分よりかけっこの遅い子がいる方がみんなは安心だったじゃありませんか。そしてその子に優しくなり、「一緒に練習してあげるよ」と言ったはずです。かけっこで一番遅い子になるのが心配ですか？戦争中、かけっこで一番になるような子は、日の丸の旗１本持たされて遠いジャングルに送られ、そこで機関銃や飛行機に追われて走り回り、75年経ってもいまだに帰ってこないじゃありませんか。

「欠点」があって、初めて人は物が見えるようになります。欠けているところから、世界が広がるのです。「満点」のような人間になってごらんなさい。目が塞がっているのと同じです。自分の影すら見えないから威張りくさり、他人を馬鹿にするのが当たり前になってしまいます。欠けた穴から、自分の影をよく見、時々その穴から世界へ出入りするのがいいのです。
