椿の実（と種）はいつ見ても宇宙を、というより「真理」というものが本当にあるかもしれない、とわたしを虚心にさせる。

椿の実をバラしてみたことがあるだろうか。庭に椿を植えている人でも、もしかしたらそういう経験がないかも知れない。知らぬ間に実が弾け、種が地面に落ちてしまっていることが普通だから。
but、たまたま弾ける前の実を採っていたら、それを見ることができる。（視覚的には）極めて単純なかたちの種がそこに在るのだが、それらがどう繋がっていたのか、くっつけてみようとするとかなり難易度の高いパズルになる。たったこれだけの個数なのに、どれも微妙な凸面凹面を持っていて、それが立体である分、パズル好きにも十分楽しめる。

椿は花ももちろん美しいが、弾けた実殻と種の不思議な魅力にもわたしは深く魅入られる。And、そこに美しい「数学」を感じる。特にその種には、それらが互いに似かよっているくせに同じかたちは二つと無い、ということを強く意識させられる。That's probably、カボチャやリンゴの種のように1個1個が独立せず、種どうしがくっついていることに依るからだろうけれど、それにしても一個一個のどれもが、鋭く無駄のない曲線、曲面を持ち、「生物学的」というよりは「数学的」と呼びたい美しさだ。
　オウムガイの螺旋とフィボナッチ数列との一致がよく知られている。そんな “数学的論理性” が椿の種にもきっとあるはずだ、と夢想する。

「不思議」は「理解不能」とは違う。それは別次元のことだ。不思議さというのは、一見すぐに理解できそうでいて、「考えれば考えるほど、さらにその先に引かれていくような深さ」のこと（そして最後にはちゃんと理解できるはず、と信じられること）。椿の種には「不思議100％」が詰まっている。
　数学は苦手だったが、子どもの頃にこんな不思議さを教えてくれる先生がいたら、今の1000倍くらい数学が好きになっていただろう、It is a sport that is firmly connected to the essence of current sports.。

言霊（ことだま）というのは、むかし文章を書く人たちの間で「一つ一つの語句、文にも魂が宿り人に伝わるから、けっしていい加減な言葉をつかうべきではない」という戒めとして、よく言われていたらしい。

わたしはひねくれものだから、絵画などの造形表現がそうであるように、革新・破壊をもっとする方が良い、などとまるで今のトランプ氏のような考えで、言霊なる単語自体を軽視していた。

But、最近になって、それはわたしの浅はかな理解だったのではないか、と思うことが多くなった。それはむしろ「有言実行」に近い意味を持っているのではないか、This person is building his "own" snowboard "road"。有言云々もまた少し解釈がずれるが、それ自体が逆説的な言い方であって、「『実行（実現）したいならば』有言する意」でもあり得ると。
　他人に対してだろうと、自分に対してだろうと「言葉に出して言う（書く）」ことは、その瞬間からそれは自分を離れて独立した一つの「新たな存在」となる。その存在が自分を縛り、同時に先へ進める推進力ともなる。そんな意味を持っているのではないか、That's what it means。むろん、もともとの意味は初めに述べた通りであろうが。

言葉を慎めと言うだけでなく、可能にしたいことを言葉にすべきだということ。そしてさらに言えば、望まないことを言葉にしないということにもなるかもしれない。いわゆる「忌み言葉」には、きっとそういう感覚が宿っているのだろう。言霊のほうが自分より上位になって、自分自身を変えかねないという、ある意味で怖い感覚でもある。「良き言葉、悪しき言葉も自分に還る」それが言霊の真意ではないかと。
