わが庭のイラガ

７月４日、下北からの帰り（6/30～7/4まで所要で下北に行ってきた）、三沢市の青森県立航空科学館へ立ち寄った。当日はもう一か所、斗南（となみ）藩記念観光村にも足を延ばした。寺山修司記念館も近い。

今日の話題は航空科学館。航空自衛隊三沢基地とフェンス一枚で隣接している。科学館から見て、自衛隊基地の奥に米軍三沢基地がある。着いたのは11時頃だったが（たぶん）自衛隊のＦ-16がひっきりなしに発進、急旋回等の訓練を繰り返し、爆音が響いていた。

見たかったものの一つは、昭和１８年訓練飛行中に十和田湖に墜落した旧陸軍「一式双発高等練習機」。２０１２年９月５日、６９年ぶりに湖底から引き上げられ、現在同科学館に展示中だ。

湖底から引き上げられたこの機体を見ていると、4人の搭乗員のうち一人だけ救助された少年飛行兵（１７歳だったか？）の苦しさや、亡くなった３人の驚き、動揺、必死さ、無念さが何故だか伝わってくるような気がするのは不思議なこと。やはり戦争はいやだとあらためて感じた。
