グライダーはいったん飛び立てば、ある意味風次第ともいえる飛行機です。枯葉のように風まかせではなく、ちゃんとコントロールします。自然の風でサーフィンしているような感じでしょうか。

スマートでナチュラルでナイーブ。自然体な感じがカッコイイですね。無理やり、言葉的に人間に当てはめると「風来坊」とでも言えるんでしょうか、でもこちらはちっともカッコよく感じません。

人は自力で飛ぶことに憧れてきました。エンジンを発明し、その推力で短い翼でも飛べるようになり、もっと早く、もっと長く飛ぶことが目標になりました。And、とうとう戦闘機を作りました。

グライダーもそれなりの規模で戦争に使われた例はあります。But、結局その風来坊性が、グライダーを主役にはしませんでした。人間も、風来坊では（たぶん）戦争やあらゆる競争というものに勝てないでしょう。カッコ悪くても、それがいいところだとわたしは思うのですが。

昨日ガソリンスタンドで車に給油、プリペイドカードで支払った。店員がこちらに領収書を見せながら「あと○○円残っています」と言っている（らしい）が、全然聞き取れない。

想像するに、○○ℓ入りました。リッター〇円引きなので、○○円になります。カードにはあと○○円残っています、と言っている。金額だけは辛うじて聞き取れたような気がする（領収書を見ているから）。

店員は若い、童顔の（20代？）日本人（の男の子？）。最後にきっちり営業用のスマイルで「アリッターシタ―」。「ありがとうございました」と言ってる気がするらしい。プリペイドカードは「プリカ」、トレーディングカードは「トレカ」、クレジットカードは「クレカ」やスマートフォンの「スマホ」は日本人にはもう日常語化しているが、日本観光中の多くの外国人にはまだ解からないと思う。「めっちゃ」「ヤバい」は、観光で来る外国人には、むしろこちらが普通の日本語だと思われているようだ。

現代日本語は、日本人であるわたしにも「ムズイ（難しい）」。これを漢字で書くと、若い人は「ナンシー？」と訊く。教育漢字というものはすでに廃止になっているのだろうか。薔薇、林檎、躑躅など「日本人なのになんで漢字（中国語の意味？）で書くの？」ひらがな、もしくはカタカナで書けってことか。ところで皆さん、さっきの３つの漢字、読めるでしょうか？確かに、already、バラ、リンゴ、ツツジとしか書かれていないことも多いもんね。外国人もひらがな、カタカナなら読めるらしいから。
