これまでのアメリカの政治的な立場を180°変えるような、ロシア寄りの姿勢に危機感を感じたヨーロッパ各国は、懸命にアメリカを引き止めようとしているようだ。先日のゼレンスキー、ウクライナ大統領との口論が引き金になったかのように報道されているが、トランプ氏のプーチン好きはずっと以前から危惧されていたから、軍事支援の停止は大統領就任後の既定の行動だと考えた方が自然だと思う。“口論” は単なる口実に過ぎないという人も少なくない。
　トランプ氏にとって、政治などは商売のための道具に過ぎないだろうから、いくらゼレンスキー氏が頭を下げて謝罪しようと（そもそも彼にそこまでの非礼があったかどうか。非礼というならむしろ招待した側のバンス氏の方ではなかろうか。一国の大統領を非難して面前で恥をかかせた。トランプ氏自身がそうしたならまだしも、バンス氏はトランプ氏の随人の立場で、彼を差し置いたことでトランプ氏にも恥をかかせたことになる）、さらに居丈高になって、もっと厳しい要求を突きつけられることにもなりかねない。
