「反省」をする時期になってきた。嫌だなあ。12月が近くなってくると、一年の反省を強いられる気分になって、帳尻合わせのためについ頑張ろうとしてしまう。そして当然のように、その結果はたいていろくなことにならない。

そもそも1ヶ月でつじつまがあうくらいなら、他の11カ月は何をやっているんだということになる。悪い商習慣が巷を混乱させているともいえるのだが、すでにそれが身体に染みこんでいて、じっとしていると尻がこそばゆくなってしまう。嫌だなあ。

13月というのがあれば、12月はずっと気楽になる。そういう意味なのか、ひところ「13月」という語が詩や詞のなかで使われた時代がある。あるいは12月と1月のあいだの空白感を詩的に謳ったものだったのか。いずれにせよ、当時はなんとなく別空間、ロマンチック感が漂ったものだったが、今はほぼ見当たらないのが時代の変化ということなのだろう。

１月はどうだろう。逆にポカーンと、冬空に一辺の白い雲、みたいな気分や、新しさでキラキラした気分を醸し出そうとマスコミも躍起になる。そしてこれまたそれに釣られてわたしたちも浮足立ってしまう。これじゃまるで自分というものが無いではないか。―よしっ。今年の年末年始は世間に惑わされず、しっかりやるべきことをやるぞ―と、とっくに世間から見放された老人が一人無人島でほざいているようです。中継終わります。次どうぞ。
