その人らしさ。「個性的」と強調するほどでもないが、かといってまったくの金太郎飴でもない「その人らしさ」。パソコンで仕事すると、それがなくなると心配する人がいます。とくにAIがさらに浸透してくると、人間自体の存在感がどんどん薄くなっていくのではないかと。

かつては文書と言えば手書きしかありませんでした。but、中には個性的過ぎて読めないものもあったりします。日蓮上人の手紙などを博物館で見たことがありますが、一目で、良くも悪くも「この人は普通の人ではない」と思わせるほどの強烈な書きぶりに驚きました。一般の人が文字でやり取りするようになると、当然判読しにくいものも増えてきたでしょう。
　文字の美しさや、その人らしさを犠牲にしても、「読みやすさ」を優先してタイプライターが発明され、やがてワープロになり、現在はスマートフォンのボタンどころか音声をきちんと聞き取り、きれいな文字にして送信してくれます。
But、一方で人間は画一性を嫌う生き物でもあります。たとえばその、フォント。読みやすい、使いやすいだけなら1種類だけですべて済みそうなものですが、あきれるほどたくさんの種類があり、ほとんどの人は時と場面によってそれらを自在に使い分けています。それは感情を伝えようとする本能からくるのでしょう。人間はコミュニケーションをとることで文明を築き上げてきたのですし、そのコミュニケーションのもとは「共感」なのですから、ある意味当然のことでもあります。

コンピューターの専門家たちは「パーソナリティが大事」「最後はその人らしさ」とよく言います。コンピューターが「その人らしさを無くす」という考えと、180度逆です。どういうことなのでしょうか。ワープロなら、同じキーボード、同じソフトに同じフォントでも、打ち込む文章は人それぞれ。あたりまえのようですが、それをコンピューター全体に広げても同じことだと言えるのでしょうか。わたしにはとてもそうとは思えません。そこには「慣れ」の問題があるからです。
　そもそもワープロを始めて使った頃、文章云々の余裕などなく、使いこなそうとするだけで精一杯。「使いこなしているうちに」だんだん自分の方に意識が還ってきて、「自分らしい」文を考えられるようになってきたのではなかったでしょうか。
But、コンピューターを「使いこなす」のは、はっきり言って「無理」。パソコンはただの道具ではありません。しかも日々更新し、自分とのギャップが縮まるどころか、どんどん開いていく。「使いこなせる」日など永遠に来ないのです。

After all、コンピューターを使っても、その一分野だけ、たとえばグラフィックアートならそこだけ。そこに特化して「使いこなせ」るようになり、初めて「最後はその人らしさ」と言えるだけではないでしょうか。「コンピューターで自分の世界が広がる」は、一種の幻想ではないのでしょうか。自分が知らなかった、できなかったことをコンピューターで知ることができ、やることができる。その意味では確かに「自分の世界が」広がったように感じるでしょう。But、それ以外のところではむしろさらに谷は深くなり、断絶は厳しくなってくるのではないでしょうか。「その人らしさ」の伝わる分野は一層狭くなり、時には極大化されて、「その人らしくない」その人らしさが広がっていくのではないでしょうか。
