風景ー美しい自然環境や、人間と自然の織りなす風土、歴史的環境などを描くもの。そんな風に多くの人は思っているし、私も長くそんな風に思ってきた。
絵というのはどんなものを描いても自画像だ、という言い方がある。もう少し私流に言いかえれば、どんなものを見てもそこにあるのは自分の投影だということ。寂しい人にはどんなものも寂しく見え、寂しいものしか見えてこない。
美しい風景があるのではなく、美しさを感じる心がそこにある、ということだろう。絵というものはきっとそうやってできているものだ。
