やはり船はいい

南極観測船「宗谷」ブリッジから(お台場・船の科学館)

I feel like I saw the sea a little bit for the first time in a while.。When I went to Shimokita about half a month ago, I drove along the coastline.、I looked at the ocean every day, but it never felt like it.。I didn't have the luxury of doing that because of my father's arachnoid condition.。I started to feel calmer so I decided to go sketching.。

The location was decided to be Tokyo, which also served as a preview for the upcoming sketch event.。The ship science museum will be closed at the end of this month with no plans to reopen, so this is the main thing.、I went out with the intention of sketching if time allowed.。

The photo is moored there、View from the bridge of the Antarctic research vessel "Soya" which is open to the public。Facing the front is the Fisheries Agency ship (Tokomaru)。What spreads out in the back is probably the waterway to Tokyo Port.。The opposite shore is packed with containers and container ships.。The lift for cargo handling is standing stiffly.。This kind of scenery probably isn't suitable for Soya, but I can't help it.。Thanks to this, I was able to actually see the ship that I remember seeing in books when I was a child (maybe it was just a memory from the images on TV).。

but、According to records, Soya was originally commissioned as a cargo ship by the former Soviet Union.、Because the ship entered service in 1938 as a private small cargo ship "Jiryo Maru" due to changes in the international situation.、In fact, perhaps it should be said that the landscape has returned to its original state.。

Jiryomaru soon became a special naval ship and was renamed ``Soya.''。Measurement、take on transport duties。After the war, a salvage ship、After being used as a lighthouse supply ship for the Japan Coast Guard、1956It was converted into an Antarctic research vessel in 2013.。Even at that point, it was already a pretty dilapidated ship.。The story behind it is interesting too.、When you actually look at this (really) small ship of about 2,700 tons at most,、This was sent off as the first international Antarctic research vessel.、I can't help but feel the strangeness and sadness of this country called Japan.。Although it was just after the war、Isn't it almost like a special attack team?。on the other hand、The members' sparkling curiosity and youth helped them overcome this problem.、I can still feel great empathy.。

Antarctic exploration only brings to mind the image of a frigid silver world.、Actually, we pass the equator on the way.、Apparently it was difficult to deal with the intense heat.。It is also because of the history that it was first built as a Soviet ice-ocean cargo ship.、It turns out that the ship was not designed with any consideration for the heat.。The sled puller who was brought along for the ride、A shaggy brown dog, etc.、I think I was able to get him to the South Pole without dying.。Taro、The real pain of Giro、I imagined that it was actually in the Indian Ocean rather than Antarctica.。

The ship has a beautiful shape, but、Its history also has an indescribably deep (human) flavor.。sinking、People are drawn to ships even after they are dismantled.、Maybe it's because there's a novel-like charm to it.。
