加地伸行氏の「漢文法基礎」は、20年ほど前にＺ会という大手受験指導塾から出された、受験参考書だ。読んだことがある人も結構いるだろう。それが文庫版になっているので読んでみた。
なぜ今頃？しかも、なぜ漢文法？確かに。自分でもそう思って一瞬買うのを躊躇したのを思い出した。文庫とはいえ、約600ページの分厚さ。しかも理系出身かつ文学方面には何の素養もない私が、さらに何の必要性もないのに、本当に読む？もちろん、どこか老年受験してみようという酔狂などあるわけない。
けれど買ってしまった。実は一年以上前のこと。Honesty、私の古典、漢文の知識は（今も）中学生どまり。返り点があればその下を先に読む、位しか知識がなかった。難関大学の文系を目指そうという人まで対象にした参考書だから、ちんぷんかんぷんは当然。睡眠薬がわりに最低1年間は使った。
だが根気の良いのだけは私の取り柄。放り投げずにやっと最近読み終わった。It's a strange story, but、読み終わって、なぜこの本を買う気になったのか、少しわかった気がする（内容には全然ついていけなかった(^_^;) 。そのかわり、良い本を選んだ選択眼にはちょっとだけ満足した（人を見る目がないのは昨日書いた）。
いま2度目を読んでいる。今度は少しは内容も理解したい（読み終わるのはまた1年以上先になりそうだが）。これから先も、漢文の試験を受けてみたいなどとは絶対に思わないが。
