その証拠に「自己責任」を云々する側はほぼ常に自治体や役所などの公的機関、Organization、会社などの組織、要するに管理者側。親から子へも「それはあんたの自己責任でしょ！」などと「管理的」になるときに遣う。要するに「上から目線の用語」なのだ。

それに「自己責任」って今さら言うけど、これまで庶民が自己責任でなかった時代ってあったのだろうか？「同じ五体満足なのに」○○ができない＝努力が足りない＝自己責任→✕、「同級生で○○は成功しているのに」▽△は貧乏だ＝努力が足りない＝自己責任→✕、「クラスの◇さんは成績いいのに」お前は頭悪い＝努力が足りない＝自己責任→✕というぐあいに押し付けられてきたのではなかったか。「同じ」？「五体」？「満足」？五体満足って手や足の本数のことだけか？「同じ」っていうのはどこでわかる？そもそも顔が違うぜよ。同級生だからって、生活環境まで同じわけないし、勉強の環境だって皆違う。それを一切無視して「努力が足りない」と責任を一方的に個人に押しつけるための方便が、「自己責任」という語の「現代的使用法」になったのではないか。

反対に考えると、「貧乏だ」→「会社が倒産・リストラ」→「景気悪い」→「中小企業」→「大学格差」→「勉強環境悪い」→「貧乏だ」というサイクルや「貧乏だ」→「会社が倒産・リストラ」→「景気悪い」→「経済政策失敗」→「政治（家）が悪い」→「選んだ国民がアホだ」→「教育が悪い」→「国民が求めていない」→「目先のことだけ」→「貧乏だから」。この矢印を逆に見ると個人的になるし、矢印のように進むと責任を取るべき主体が変わってくる。「自己責任」の意味が見えてくると思う。

「自己責任」という語は他者に対して遣うべき言葉ではない。それを自らの心の中にいつもしっかり持っているならば、あえて口に出す必要のない言葉だ。「自己責任」を、さも当然のように政治家やマスコミが使用するのを見聞きするたび、「自己責任を取っていない証拠だな」と思う。

The point of no-return「 帰還不能点」とは、たとえば飛行機が飛び立った空港へ引き返すには燃料が足りず、もう戻れない（その先で解決するしかない）という点（位置）のことだという。何だか人生にもそんな点があるような気がして、心に残る語だ。

2021年4月16日の今なら、「東京オリンピック」はもう帰還不能点を過ぎているだろうか。過ぎているとすれば、それはいつからだったのかを振り返り、そのときどんな判断が可能だったのか検証してみることはけっして無駄なことではないと思う。今のオリンピックへの進み方は、かつて中国北東部で関東軍が次々と戦線を拡大し、政府も国民もそれに引きずられるようにして、やがて悲惨な結果に陥った状況にどこか似ている気がする。

「帰還不能点」は当然ながら計算可能である。飛行機に積める燃料の量は決まっており、その半分を過ぎれば帰ってこれないことくらい小学1年生でも解る。帰還不能点を過ぎて何かトラブルが起きた時、問題をそれ以上拡大させないためにはどんな方法があるか、航空会社ならば当然考えておくべき責任がある。もしも考えていないならば「想定外」という言葉の使用を許すことはできない。「トラブルは必ず起こると想定する」ことが常識だからである。

東京オリンピック開催か中止かが、すでに判断の帰還不能点を過ぎているとすれば、当然これから起こること（トラブル）への回避策は、国家プロジェクトでもある以上、二重三重に考慮されているはずである。航空会社同様、「想定外」の使用は許されない。なぜオリンピックが1年延期されたかを知らない人はいるまい。But、現在の政府のバタバタぶりを見る限り、結局は鎌倉時代の「蒙古襲来」での「神風」のような僥倖を信じているのではないか、という気がしてならない。Moreover,、これまでも事あるごとにそのような気持ちにさせられてきたのだからなおさら。
