During the exhibition period、Niki Exhibition at the National Art Center, Tokyo in Roppongi、Independent exhibitions and solo exhibitions introduced in the previous article, etc.、some solo exhibitions、I also visited group exhibitions.。Everyone is trying their best。Huge amount of energy poured into it、amount of material、funds。and many sacrifices of all kinds。And the small amount of self-satisfaction that I get、like a blessing、Private admiration with almost no social skills。Is there a more appropriate word than “healthy”?。

「わたしの個人的美術史では、美術の歴史はすでに終わっている」とずっと前に書いた。あらためてそのことを確認した。誰もが絵を描かなくなるという意味ではない。それどころか10年後には絵を描くことはもっと手軽になり、誰もが暇つぶしに描くようにも思う。終わっている、のは「もう付け加えることがない」つまり、美術史的には巻末まで来たということと、（少なくとも現代の日本的な）美術展という形式のこと。

少なくとも現代日本の美術展には個人的な犠牲（負担ではなく、あえて「犠牲」というほどそれ）が大きすぎる。日本独自の団体展という制度は、その犠牲の量を人数で割って小さくするための方法論であり、作家どうしが互いの傷を舐めあって生きる美術長屋もである。作家がのびのびと作りたいものを作り、自由に発表するという理想からは遠すぎる。作家になるということは社会から逸脱するという覚悟、社会的自殺の覚悟が要る、といっても過言ではない。家族まで巻き添えにして、たまさか運よく流行作家になれた人だけを見て、その犠牲的精神を格好いいと思うのは時代錯誤であり、それを強いる似たような社会的抑圧（たとえば女性の社会的地位）の風土と通底する。

いまはインターネットがある。インターネットがそれらの問題を一挙に解決するなどという妄想は、さすがに妄想家を自認するわたしも持たないが、最低でもその一部を軽減してくれる程度の力はすでに持っている。創作の厳しさ（努力）と身体的、社会的犠牲とを混同してはならない。創作の厳しさは、自分自身が解放される場所からでなけれ乗り越えられないと思うからである。

みんな、絵を描こうよ！

いつ以来か、もう忘れるほど実に久しぶりに東京へ出かけた。銀座での知人の個展と、秋の美術展を六本木の国立新美術館へ。ここまで不義理の連続。義理と人情を重んじる渡世人なら、すでに100回は腹を切らなくちゃならなかった。ずたずたどころか小間切れだ。

銀座4丁目交差点に出ると、わあ、人が一杯いる、と最初は感じたが、落ち着いてみるとやはり相当に少ない。美術館のロビーは普段は平日でも人で一杯なのに、今はガラガラ。ガラス壁に沿って置かれていた椅子も大分間引かれて、換気のいい戸外のテラスに配置されている。館内も異様なほど静か。

今日は行動美術展と新制作協会展。出品されている絵はいつもの感じと同じような気がするが、例年以上に亡くなった会員の数が多かった。享年を見ると高齢者だけでなく、40代とか若い人も結構いる。じわじわとコロナのストレスが影響しているのかも知れない。いずれ新型コロナと人間のあいだもお互いに慣れてきて、毎年一定の犠牲を祭壇に供えるように落ち着いていくのだろうが、それでも新型コロナ以前の状態に戻ることはもう絶対にない。苦しくはあっても、少し長い目で見れば人類の進化の一コマに過ぎないのだろう。

数十億年後の太陽系では太陽が死を迎えるらしい。つまり太陽系が消滅する。そんな遠い未来に人類どころか生命などというものが存在しているかどうかさえわからないが、とにかくその時点では地球も当然消滅しているという。人類がどんなに高度な文化を築こうと、そこではすべてが太陽と一つになって灰となる（元素に還る）。では究極的にはすべては無駄なのか、と言えばそんなことはない。生きていることと死んでいることに大差ないと（哲学的に？）考えれば、それだけ今を自由に生きる方がオトクということになる。that's why、みんな、くよくよせずに絵を描こうよ。
