Go to Kunio Matsumoto's solo exhibition

The exhibition hall is spacious
Matsumoto's unique image of a woman

Today is the harvest moon。It was a good month。While looking up at the full moon、yesterday、I was glad that I went to Kunio Matsumoto's solo exhibition.。I was able to have a leisurely chat with Masato Yoshioka, who was holding a solo exhibition at the same gallery at a different venue.、Above all, Matsumoto-san's drawings were amazing.、I ended up staying too long。

Located in Kunitachi City、“Court Gallery Kunitachi” September 12th to 24th。Exit the south exit of Kunitachi Station and go to the right (toward Tachikawa) on the road immediately before reaching 2.,3It's a minute。If you want to see it, please see it as soon as possible.。Matsumoto、Mr. Yoshioka and Mr. Yoshioka are both members of Nikikai, a publicly recruiting organization.。Actually, I used to belong to this group as well.、Thank you both for your help.。

But、I always view works without having to relate to that kind of relationship.。Matsumoto's works don't change much in motif or subject matter.、in the last few years、For some reason, it's become more and more attractive.、I feel that。Thinking about what has changed、I wonder if the themes and how they are handled have become simpler.、I think。
Anyone can be a painter、I want to draw something like this、This is the only thing I have a strong desire to draw.。That is the driving force behind my continued drawing.、From the perspective of painting = visual art、That obsession may impede visibility (visibility?)、It often happens。That commitment、An artist's style is the way they fit into the theory of visual perception.、If I can't create that, I will continue to have a hard time creating as an artist.。

Matsumoto didn't show any signs of being in pain.、I think I overcame that dilemma.。

draw water droplets

Waterdrops on grapes (watercolor, in progress)

I drew a Muscat the other day。I thought it would be easy because it was a single color, but I was naive.。I was sure that I was well aware that ``the simpler things seem, the more difficult they are.''、I just looked at it lightly。This sketch takes advantage of that reflection.、The theme was "water drops"。

The simpler things are, the more difficult they are.、For example, drawing a potato、It's more difficult than drawing a mandarin orange.、Drawing a tangerine is more difficult than drawing a chestnut.。There aren't many people who can't tell the difference between a potato and a mud pot.、It is extremely difficult to depict something in a way that makes it recognizable the moment you see it.。Mandarin oranges are not just yellow circles.。Common whelks on the seashore、Compared to turban shells, which have complex spines.、It has no characteristics、It's difficult。

It's not just a picture。For example, a novel、It's better to draw a very ordinary person around that area.、I often hear that it is more difficult than writing biographies of great people.。I imagine that it would be difficult to turn street noise into music in that sense.。

Back to the topic、A picture is not something that can be understood simply by looking at it.。It doesn't necessarily have to be drawn accurately.。It's not just about being good at it.。A good painting is one that ignites something in the heart of the viewer.、I think。From draft to completion、The author does not know at what stage the ``ignition'' occurs.。The sketch is the best、Some pictures get worse the more you draw them、Actually there are many。This picture is also here、Which stage is best?、And、Can you stop it yourself?。That area、It's the difference between whether you have the ability or not.。

three-dimensional sense

The picture in the foreground is a watercolor painting.。The back is the real thing (at the time of production, the view was from above)

There are various things that viewers look for in a picture.。Some people say they like something that looks just like the photo.、Some people say they don't get stuck if it looks like the photo.。Others don't need a form in the first place.、They say it doesn't even need color。Displaying the canvas as it is、Some artists simply create scratches and stains and call it a "work."。I see、That's certainly true too.。If the viewer “finds” something there。

I never thought about that when I was a kid.。I never thought of drawing something exactly like the real thing.、``I want to be able to see what's in my head with my eyes''、There is no doubt that I strongly wished for it。

At times like that、an adult makes a fuss。“Try drawing this.”。Because no adult had any imagination.、like the picture、In other words, there was no more convincing method than drawing it realistically.。I'm a kid, so I didn't think about it logically.、I knew it intuitively。
That's it、I drew various things。Adults were especially amused when drawing banknotes.。Because banknotes are of high quality、It was worth the challenge for the drawing side as well.。Observation skills are required to draw exactly like them.。And that's not from the drawing side either.、Standing on the viewer's side。Even as I grow older, those (unimaginative) demands never end.、Therefore, even now, we cannot afford to abandon the realism that is sufficient to meet this demand.。

Many people enjoy the three-dimensional feel。I really don't understand why。maybe、It must be a strange feeling to see something three-dimensional even though it is flat.。From the drawing side、It's not like I'm creating a three-dimensional effect or anything.。Simply、見えたもののデータを或る美術的関数の中に入れればこうなるだけのことだ創作力というのはその関数以外のこと描いているとそんな風に思えてくる
