暑いのと忙しいのとその他の理由により、最近ウォーキングをしていないので、脚がなまってきた。今日は夕立も無さそうなので、自転車で散歩コースを回ってきた。

もう刈入れが始まっていた。隣の田んぼを見るとまだ穂が出たばかり。何でも早いもの勝ちの時代だから、お米も一刻も早く「新米」を出荷したいのだろう。早稲（わせ）はゆっくり育ったものに比べると美味しくないと聞いた記憶が甦るが、いまはそうでもないのだろうか。近くの小学校の上に青い入道雲が出ていた。

グライダーはいったん飛び立てば、ある意味風次第ともいえる飛行機です。枯葉のように風まかせではなく、ちゃんとコントロールします。自然の風でサーフィンしているような感じでしょうか。

スマートでナチュラルでナイーブ。自然体な感じがカッコイイですね。無理やり、言葉的に人間に当てはめると「風来坊」とでも言えるんでしょうか、でもこちらはちっともカッコよく感じません。

人は自力で飛ぶことに憧れてきました。エンジンを発明し、その推力で短い翼でも飛べるようになり、もっと早く、もっと長く飛ぶことが目標になりました。And、とうとう戦闘機を作りました。

グライダーもそれなりの規模で戦争に使われた例はあります。But、結局その風来坊性が、グライダーを主役にはしませんでした。人間も、風来坊では（たぶん）戦争やあらゆる競争というものに勝てないでしょう。カッコ悪くても、それがいいところだとわたしは思うのですが。
