一昨日から青いカモメの会・絵画展が始まったことはすでにお伝えしました。このスケッチはその前日。天気が良かったので、気分転換を兼ねて自転車で近くの花見に行ってきました。毎年必ずNHKで報道される、いわゆる「桜の名所」で、そのための車の渋滞も激しく、もしも近くでなかったらわざわざ行く気にはなりません。
わたしは毎年、この時季にここを取材しています。桜などはもう見飽きてるので、「桜を見に来る人をスケッチする」のです。今年は外国人、とくに中国系の言語が至る所で聞こえました。会話が聞こえる、ということは「一人旅ではない」ってこと。見ると、子ども連れ（それもまだ歩けない赤ちゃんなど）も少なくない。それに若夫婦のどちらかの両親らしき人などが加わる感じ。
ひと頃のような「いかにも観光」感だけではなく、どことなく「日本在住」感が漂っています。それと海外にいる両親、知人などという組み合わせか。日本は安全に金がかからないし、海外に比べると物価も安いから人を呼びやすいんだなあ、などと想像する。日本人のカップルも焼きそばなど片手に持ちながら、時どき思い出したように桜を見ていました。テレビで紹介されたところに自分たちもいる―共有できた―というのがいいんでしょうか。海外旅行者のリッチぶりに比べると、なんだか肌寒い気がしました。
