来年開催予定の、行政がらみのアートイベントに参加している。進行するにつれ、だんだん気持ちが沈んできた。何だかアートに似てるけど違う仕事をしている、という違和感が拭い去れない。当事者の１人なのだからどんどん意見を出して、自分の思う方へ変えていけば？どんな場でも通じる正論のようだが、現実は違う。

first、面白くなければやめる、という発想がない。一度でも会合を持てばもうゴールまで行かなければならない。行政というのはそうなっているらしい。ゴールも予算も会合前にほぼ決定し、担当人員も決め、そこまでのコースも概略決める。それからアーティストに呼びかけるので、アーティストの意見は時によってはちゃぶ台返しになる。that's why、現実的に求められているのは方向性そのものへの意見ではなく（あっても良いが、その場合は不参加になるだろう）、経験者としての技術的な意見にほぼ限られている。

もちろんイベントを成功させたいという気持ちは行政も含め、全員が持っている。But、誰のために？何をもって成功とするか？という最も基本的な部分の討論にかける時間が（企画決定前に。そのあとも）少なすぎる。そこが曖昧なまま、極めて事務的にタイムテーブルが出来（印刷物の都合とかが物理的に挿入される）、技術的な検討に入る。アーティストの参加が求められているのはその段階からであり、発想の斬新さ、ユニークさ、経験などはその部分の肉付けとしての意味を持たされるだけ。違和感の大部分はそんなところにある。

but、一方でアート・イベントなどは行政サービスのソフトの一環であり、市民生活に不可欠な部分をしっかりこなすことが最優先なのは当然だ。予算も人員も時間も限られているのも当然だ。作家の側も忙しい。中途半端な違和感は誰もが持っているが、それを持って行く先がない。

全員が善意で動く。参加している仲間をお互いに気遣う。そして次第に本質から遠ざかり、自己満足のこじんまりしたイベントになる。善意も努力も大部分は無駄になる。これまで私自身が何度か経験したパターンなのに、どうしてまた参加してしまったのだろう。しっかりした提案ができる自信でもあったのか？「最も基本的な部分の討論にかける時間が少なすぎる」のは、他ならぬ自分自身の反省でもあった。2016/9/18
