雪に覆われる長い時間を過ごすことが「春」を輝かせる、と毎年のことながら思う。雪のない地域に生活してみると、雪がないのは大いに有難いこと。first、自転車に乗れる。運動にも買い物にも便利。雪の上では自転車どころか二輪車自体が想像できない。そういう有難味を享受しつつも、「雪が解けて」春が来る、というドラマチックな視覚の変化に乏しいのは、どうにも物足りない。
先日記事にした近所の桜の名所でも、もう今日あたりは開花しているに違いない。そして花見の人も増え、にぎやかになっているに違いない。確かに春の嬉しい風景であり、千金万金の価値もあると思う一方で、雪解け水がどうどうと溢れる沢筋の、誰にも見られない桜、そんな風情にどうしても心惹かれてしまう。そんな景色に、何度見ても初めて春を見るような新鮮な気持ちにさせられる。
