「きれいで、気持ちの良い絵って、悪い絵なんですか？」と時々聞かれる。of course、そんなことはない。質問者は絵を描いている人。自分できれいだなと思うものを、気持ちよく描くと、先生や仲間に、そんなの面白くないと言われることに、時々疑問を感じつつ描いている。ある日とうとう聞いてみた。

「創作する」というのは、簡単にいえば「新しいこと（もの）を作り出すこと」。ふつう絵を描く場合、誰かのコピーをしているのでない限り、自分の見たもの、感じたものをとりあえず真っ白のキャンバスに、自分勝手に描く（たとえ出来が不満足でも）。一方「鑑賞」とはまず「観る」ということだが、嫌いな絵はとばしても、好きな絵はゆっくり心ゆくまで楽しむ。それが基本的な鑑賞の態度だ。そこでは「新しさ」や「自分勝手」など探し出す必要もない。ただ好き好きに従って味わえばそれでよい。

今年は暮れからずいぶんお酒を飲んだ。最近はだいぶ控えめにしていたし、毎日飲みたいとも思わなかったが、体調も良くなってきたのか、暮れの1週間ほどは毎日昼間から飲んだ。1日でワイン一本（720cc）を空にすることもあった。暮れの３日間は缶ビール（350cc）を1日で4〜5本。年が明けたら、なんだかビールが飽きてきた。

11月中頃から今日まで、睡眠薬を飲まずに過ごせている。そうそう、薬と酒とどちらがより体に悪いかなど考えていたのだった。そんなこと考えること自体、頭がおかしくなっている証拠。But、なんとなくだが薬を飲まない方が、日中のぼんやり感はなくなっているような気がする。薬を飲まずに済むならもう少し続けてみよう。

教室がないので、毎日5〜8時間ほど描いている。ほとんど小品での試作。技法のこと、素材のことや手順など、1点1点あれこれ課題を考えながら描く。And、それがこれまでの制作とこれからの制作の間にどう関わるかを考える。

それ以外の時間も案外忙しい。でも仕事ではないから、趣味のようなもの（ほんとは仕事しなくちゃいけない）。趣味といえば今は俳句。下手の横好きと言えるほど好きでもないから、締め切りの前日に作る「ねつ造俳句」。あるいは「へそ曲り俳句」。今年は目標を３つ掲げた（心の中だけ）が、まだ2日だというのに、もう達成できない予感が。

正月や諭吉は貧血一葉も　　　　生活感滲み出ていますね。
