木の肌を見ていた。コケのようなものが木肌についている。それがなんだか斑点のようだ。向こうの木には陽が当たり、少しだけすべっとした手ざわり感。樹種が異なるから、樹形も全然違う。
足元に影が伸びてくる。よく見ると枯葉の一枚一枚もとてもきれいだ。そこにも一つの完結した世界があるのをはっきりと感じる。きれいなものをきれいなままに描きたい、と思えばきれいさだけを抜き取る以外にない。But、どうやって？
That's right、きれいな風景があるのではない、It was。それだけを見ていても本当は何も解らない。「見るべきものは自分、自分の中にその風景がある」のだった。自分で言っといて忘れるなんて…その程度の自分だなあ。
風景ー美しい自然環境や、人間と自然の織りなす風土、歴史的環境などを描くもの。そんな風に多くの人は思っているし、私も長くそんな風に思ってきた。
絵というのはどんなものを描いても自画像だ、という言い方がある。もう少し私流に言いかえれば、どんなものを見てもそこにあるのは自分の投影だということ。寂しい人にはどんなものも寂しく見え、寂しいものしか見えてこない。
美しい風景があるのではなく、美しさを感じる心がそこにある、I guess that means。絵というものはきっとそうやってできているものだ。
