危なかった。あと3~4分で26日になるところだった。ビデオ編集に追われて、ブログのことをすっかり忘れていた。
今回は「風景の中の」ポインセチア。ポインセチアは、単独で描くのはとても難しい植物のひとつ。あの大胆な赤自体もそうだけれど、いざ描こうとするとなぜかあの赤が褪めてしまい、複雑なかたちだけが押し出されてくる。
あの赤は太陽の光を浴びてこそ。だから室内に持ち込んだとたん、日当たりと陰とで作り出す鮮やかなコントラストが失われ、急に不機嫌に黙り込んだようにとげとげしい表情になるのである。But、これは冬の花（？）。野外でなど描いていられないという、人間側の事情がその不機嫌さの原因でもあるわけだ。
ならば室内でもっとも居心地の良い、日当たりの場所を提供するしかない。冬の太陽は這いつくばる様に低く動き、すぐにモノの影に隠れてしまう。贅沢な光の場を要求する、冬の独裁者なのである。That's、あの赤なのである。

先日（12/16）、国画会の安原容子さんの個展などを見に銀座へ行ってきた。最終日だったが、いずれの個展もひっきりなしに来場する人がいて、絵を見に来る人は減ってないんだな、といささか安堵した。
歩行者天国も久しぶり。中国語も多く耳に入り、かの国での観光がオープンになったことを肌で感じた。路上の思わぬところに座り込んで、めいめいスマホをいじくっている家族。まだ微妙な違和感はあるが、ひところの中国人観光客レベルからみると、ずいぶん日本人感覚に近くなったと感じる。
ホコ天をあるいていると、Europe、アメリカ、南米系、中東系、アフリカ系の顔が行きかう。ワイシャツだけで行ったのに、それでも汗をかいた。12月半ばで、この暑さはどうなっているんだろうか。Ｔシャツ一枚で歩いている人もいれば、その隣ではダウンを着こんだ人もいる。そんなホコ天から、各画廊へは90度ずつ、カクカクと曲がっていく。
長年苦しめられたポインセチアの、一つの攻略法が見つかり、今年は少しだけ肩の荷を下ろした（近々、それをYouTubeに乗せるよ）。大みそかまであと10日。元気な人の、元気な個展を見ると、来年の発表までの十数点の絵の構想と試作をしながら、もう一歩ポインセチアの攻略法を探す気力も湧いてくるよ。
