とは言うものの、「何に対して」率直？「どれが無駄なのか？」と一歩進めば、いきなり五里霧中状態になる人が多いのではないだろうか。
同じように「好きなものを、好きなように描けばいい」という言葉も、無責任な言い方のようにも見える。確かにそうかも知れないけれど、いきなり「結論」だけ言われても困るのである。
「手ほどき」という言葉がある。初心者の手は「固く縛られているかのように」動かない。初心者は緊張しているのだ。意味のある動きや考え方を教えることで緊張感を取り除いてやれば、初心者の手はある程度勝手に動き始めるものだ。それを「ほどく」と言う。
不要なものを捨て、必要なものだけを率直に「描きたいように描く」こともそれに似ている。
結論から言えば「頭をほどく」こと。常識でがんじがらめになっている自分の頭を柔らかくするという意味になる。
but、それは簡単にできることだろうか？できない。「描きたいように描けばいい」と言う当の本人が悩むのは、自分の頭（こころ？）が、そう簡単に柔らかくも、思い通りにもならないからなのである。
