今年(2016/8）の夏はタンポポの根との死闘の夏だ。下北へ来る途中の折爪SAでタンポポの写真を撮った際、赤いタンポポ？と思ったのがきっかけ。
実家の庭を見るとタンポポだらけ。簡単に引き抜けないので、案外深い根かもと掘り始めたのが次のステップ。可愛い花のイメージと異なり、思ったより手強い相手だと認知。死闘が始まった。
死闘なんてオーバーな、というなかれ。返り討ちに遭って何度か腰をやられた。鎌も１本ガタガタにされた。まさに死闘なのだ。見よ写真１を。ほとんどライオンの顔そのままではないか！タテガミまでそっくり！
写真２。普通サイズのタンポポの葉（手前）と比べると、小さくてカイワレのように可愛い葉がぎっしり。種類は同じだが、小さい方が本家、実家の方。たくさんの葉の中から選りすぐりだけ残る。谷に我が子を蹴落とすライオンの話はたとえだが、こちらは現実。
普通よりずっと小さな、可愛いタンポポの葉が肩を寄せ合っているように生えてきたら要注意。仔猫の顔した凶悪ライオンがそこにいる！そこからどんどん増えていくぞ。見かけの可愛い奴ほど恐ろしい牙を持っているって、人間の世界でも聞いたような気もするが。
